Founded in 1997, ProStar Industries has grown from a small janitorial maintenance service to a national distributor serving a wide range of industries, including family entertainment, municipalities, healthcare, education, and theatres.
Our story began with our founder, Orlen Howell, Jr. (OJ), who started in the janitorial industry at just 19 years old. With hard work, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine passion for people, OJ built a successful cleaning service, working with major retailers like Target, Walmart, Brookshire Brothers, and more. In 1994, after landing a contract with Cinemark and eventually expanding to service 18 theatres across four states, OJ discovered that inconsistent cleaning chemicals and equipment were driving up labor costs and creating inefficiencies.
Determined to solve these challenges, OJ developed a custom line of cleaning chemicals and equipment tailored to his clients' unique needs. This led to the creation of the Theatre Maintenance Management System (TMMS), an innovative solution that included standard equipment packages, online ordering, training, and consistent pricing. The success of the TMMS earned ProStar a national contract and solidified the company's role as a trusted partner in the cleaning industry.
Today, ProStar Industries continues to provide top-tier janitorial supplies and equipment to businesses nationwide. Although much has evolved over the years, our commitment to understanding and solving our customers' cleaning challenges remains at the heart of everything we do.
